The location for Cradle Forest Inn is perfect if you are wanting to explore the Northen end of Tassie - with Cradle Mountain a short 25min drive and Devonport a 50min drive. The local scenery is abundant and beautiful and you are warmly welcomed by the Inn managers. It immediately gives you a home-like feeling as you step in, making it super hard to leave when your stay is up. You will highly likely wake up to Pademelon's below your deck in the morning which is refreshing to see, and possibly a Wombat or two roaming around at dawn. The local coffee shop and art gallery (Blue Tree Gallery) is a short, 2min walk from the Inn and has the best coffee in Moina. Aimee Rowland - the local artist there is extremely talented and well worth the visit, she is absolutely lovely to talk to. A great bonus as well if you see it to be - there is limited to no reception. However, the absence of the usual *pings* from our phones only enhanced the experience of our stay. If you are however needing reception, the local larger town of Sheffield is a 30min drive from the Inn and offers 4G for Optus, 3G for Vodafone. We only wished we could have stayed longer :)

We loved our stay and were so happy that we chose this quaint, private lodging option as it was surrounded by lovely forest and so much more affordable than the basic cabins at more posh resorts. It was less than 1/2 hour drive to Cradle Mountain hiking area but watch for animals at dusk - they are everywhere :) We stayed in the Quoll cabin and loved having two tables/chair set ups outside the main door and large window. Each day we were greeted by pademelons and a chorus of song birds. The cabin was well stocked, bedding super comfortable and the whirlpool bath / hottub was amazing after completing a long hike. The heating system was super efficient. The kitchen (equipped with a microwave and small fridge) was outfitted with everything we needed for simple meals. Check in process was super easy and there are a couple of new cafes on the corner offering amazing coffee at Blue Tree Gallery which also features a lovely array of local artisan products. The staff at nearby Cradle Gateway Cafe were super friendly but the breakfast sandwich and coffee was quite basic - they do offer dinner for pickup which is a nice option.

Lovely place to stay, housekeeping hadn't had a chance to make up the sofa bed before we'd succeed as requested but the caretaker Jamie knocked on the door shortly after our arrival with fresh sheets and apologies without us having to say anything. We weren't bothered at all by this and more than happy to make it up ourselves. Plus this gave us a chance to meet the staff. Cute little fairy garden out the front of our cottage brought a smile to our faces as well as the little light pollution giving us a fantastic view of the night sky. Self check in made it easy for us to arrive after a long days drive and adventures at cradle mountain

We took our own breakfast as we were told there was only a microwave available. We were also advised that as there was no restaurant onsite and to ensure we bring food that is suitable for microwaving or make a dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant at Cradle Mountain or Sheffield or have dinner on route. However there is a Cafe on the corner to the entrance of Cradle Forest Inn which provides breakfast, coffee, drinks etc. and has a dinner menu which you can order from, in advance of your stay.

The cabin was located in a centralised location allowing us to travel and explore in any direction. The guide provided by the accommodation was detailed and provided us some great ideas on what to do with our stay. The room was warm on arrival and we were greeted by some local Pademelons and cheeky Kurrawongs. The spa was lovely to enjoy after hiking at Cradle Mountain. The lack of reception (not with Telstra) and allowed us to digital detox which we saw as a plus.
